Iran warns US against re-impounding tanker freed by Gibraltar as it sails to Greece

1 hour 25 min ago

US attempts to re-seize an Iranian oil tanker that was released by Gibraltar last week may end badly, Tehran has warned. The vessel is now heading towards Greece, according to maritime tracking data.

The ship, which was detained last month by Gibraltar authorities, left the British territory late on Sunday despite an order issued by a US federal court in Washington on Friday, which warranted its renewed seizure. Gibraltar said it was operating under EU laws and thus was not bound to enforce orders from a US court.

Continued attempts by Washington to impound the tanker are a threat to international freedom of navigation, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi told the media on Monday, as cited by IRNA news agency. He said Tehran sent a message to the US warning against such actions, stating that there would otherwise be bad consequences.

The ship, which was renamed from ‘Grace 1’ to ‘Adrian Darya 1’ after changing flag, is currently sailing to Kalamata in Greece, according to tracking data. Britain seized it in July at the request of the US, which alleged that the vessel was trying to violate EU sanctions by delivering its cargo to Syria.

Iran called the detention an act of international piracy and threatened retaliation. It later seized a British-flagged tanker, ‘Stena Impero,’ in the Strait of Hormuz for allegedly violating maritime rules. Asked if the British tanker would now also be released, Mousavi said it was up to an Iranian court to decide.

Dogfight at 20km altitude: WATCH Russian MiG-31 intercept intruder in STRATOSPHERE during drill

1 hour 52 min ago

A cockpit video has provided a breathtaking view of Earth’s curvature as a Russian MiG-31BM traveled through the lower stratosphere for the first time during a military exercise.

The drill took place over the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Pacific region. One of the MiG-31s played the role of an intruder that violated the country’s airspace at maximum speed and altitude, while another MiG-31 jet took off to intercept it.To make the challenge more difficult, the intercepting jet had to locate its opponent without any help from ground control, the spokesperson for the Pacific Fleet said.

The video, released by the Zvezda TV channel on Monday, shows the jet taking off from an airstrip before climbing more than 20km in the air, while traveling at a speed of 2,500kph. The Earth’s curvature, as well as the ‘intruder’ plane, can be seen from its cockpit.

VIDEO of Prince Andrew staying in Epstein’s sex mansion forces palace into damage control

2 hours 27 min ago

A video showing the Duke of York waving off a young woman from inside financier Jeffery Epstein’s New York mansion has reignited speculation online, sending Buckingham Palace into full-on damage-control mode.

A short, blurry video released by the Mail on Sunday shows a man, who the tabloid newspaper identifies as Prince Andrew, the second son of Queen Elizabeth, saying goodbye to a young, dark-haired woman at the doorstep of Epstein’s New York mansion – a notorious sex lair where the financier used to prey on young girls.

After exchanging courtesies with the brunette, the prince gives her a nod, and then takes a quick look around the door as if to make sure that no paparazzi were in sight.

Moments before Prince Andrew appears in the doorway, Epstein himself can be seen leaving the house accompanied by a blonde girl.

Also on rt.com More than two thirds of Americans don’t believe Epstein died by suicide

The video dates back to December 2010, two years after Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution and was sentenced to 18 months in an open-door prison after striking a sweetheart plea deal.

But Buckingham Palace claims the prince was unaware of any wrongdoing going on at the mansion, saying he “has been appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes.”

His Royal Highness deplores the exploitation of any human being and the suggestion he would condone, participate in, or encourage any such behavior is abhorrent.

However, court documents claim that Prince Andrew inappropriately touched one woman in Epstein’s Manhattan apartment, and forced another to have sex with him  on a private Caribbean island owned by the late financier.

The disgraced financier was found dead in his jail cell on Sunday, August 11 in what's been ruled as suicide by the medical examiner. Several investigations are ongoing, but the circumstances immediately prompted speculation in light of newly released court documents which included incriminating information on powerful players within his orbit.
