For Canada, it's not the Oil, it's the Gold

Though Venezuela's "president" Guano can hardly scare up enough supporters to take over a coffee shop, Canada's "leaders" are right there with him. What's in it for us Canadians, eh?

Ontario Vanity Licence Plates Totally for Tory Voters!

Ontario is modernizing its tired, old "Yours to Discover" licence plate slogan. To the kind of citizen who'd vote for Doug Ford as Premier, it's a bit too, well, goody two-shoes. Tory voters want Ford to kick our arses, we nasty, selfish consumers of "free stuff" preventing everyone from having lower taxes. Apparently, "Open for Business" is more like it.

I've suggested that they might want to consider cashing in on a possible craze for even more pointed slogans, vanity plates that Tory voters might just be prepared to pay for...

Happy belated Pesach to the World Jewish Congress!

One of the US's first female Muslim Congressional representatives, Rashida Tlaib of Detroit, sent a Pesach (Passover) greeting to all those celebrating that festival, but—O! My God!—it had the wrong kind of bread in it!

Can you imagine the perfidy! How dare she?

That Ilhan Omar! She's ON to Something!

(US Representative Ilhan Omar, the first female Muslim ever to be elected to the US Congress, is in a heap of trouble over her statement of the bleedingly obvious—that donations to Congresspeople from the American Israel Political Action Committee influence their views on Israel in Congressional votes. Perish the thought!)

Chrystia Freeland, Canada's "Liberal" Nazi Fetishist

Chrystia Freeland, Canada's "Liberal" Minister of Foreign Affairs and Azov Battalion groupie, grand-daughter of a Ukrainian Nazi collaborator, recognizes Juan Gladio, appointed by Donald Trump, as "President" of Venezuela.

Shlomo Sand's "The Invention of the Jewish People"—IMPORTANT!

If anything bedevils our world today, preventing great masses of humankind from living in peace, it's the Israel/Palestine conflict. It is a very, very strong belief of most Israeli Jews, many other Jews, and sympathetic pro-Zionists of other religions that Jews everywhere have a right to return to their "homeland" of some 2,000 years ago, from which their ancestors were cast out.

But what if today's Israelis and Jews living elsewhere are not the descendents of the Judeans of so long ago? What if they are not the "seed of Abraham"? What if the whole "right of return" is fraudulent?

Myanmar's Rohingya: Bob Rae to the rescue? Don't think so.

While the crisis affecting the Rohingya of Myanmar's Rakhine State seems to have exceeded the attention span of most of the Mainstream Media (MSM) these days, it doubtless continues on.

Here's Karl Nerenberg making a thoughtful contribution to the discussion over at rabble.ca. It's terrific to see someone applying some real thought to the problem, as such insightfulness is sorely lacking these days....

On the other hand,

Burns/Novick's Vietnam War: Former CIA guy all concerned for "human beings"

So here we are in Episode 10, the North Vietnamese Army and National Liberation Front have taken over much of the country, and they're about to enter and liberate Sài Gòn. At the US Embassy (and all the CIA "safe spots") things are falling apart. It's chaos.

All the Vietnamese that have been loyally working for their US Imperial masters are, not surprisingly, desperate to get out, and expecting the Americans to take them. And, suddenly, here's Frank Snepp, talking to us. Interestingly, he's identified as "CIA," which was largely not true of the other CIA nobs Burns/Novick had talking to us.

Burns/Novick's Vietnam War: John Negroponte "decent"? Really?

There's something that's annoying the bejeezus out of me as I watch the Burns/Novick documentary on the Vietnam War. They've got these guys/gals talking at you, and all you're told about who they are, so you can judge what they're saying, is a name, and "Marines," or "Pentagon." You're not told anything about them.

Since Burns/Novick start the series by asserting that the American effort in that war was started by "decent people," it seems to me we have a right to assume they'll have decent people talking to us about it, no?

White Cops: Do we really need 'em?

(Achtung! Sarcasm alert!)

There's been a lot of concern lately about police violence in the United States. Police kill over 1,000 people, mostly fellow Americans, every year.

Perhaps not surprisingly, in a country where race is at the root of so much of its history and culture, African-Americans are disproportionately the victims, astonishingly so.

1,000 Apologies, I had to remove my actual e-mail address from this page. I got really tired of sock puppets offering me free sexual favours. (And NO! I don't know how many of them were Russian, and it wouldn't change my vote!) So here's one of those crappy contact forms that I really hate. Did I mention I'm sorry?
