US State Dept WaPo on Viet Nam, 1965 (and now?)

(As the Democrat wing of the anti-Trump "movement" careens around, blathering on about Russian aggression in US elections, brandishing a "report" agreed to by all 17 "intelligence" agencies of the US Government, a "report" which even those agencies that "agreed" to it won't endorse as factual, I came across this article from the old IF Stone Weekly from 50+years ago. It's instructive to read now because it perhaps demonstrates why USG leaders no longer supply any evidence for their accusations against official enemies.

IF Stone: Nixon and the Arms Race

(This is a reprint from legendary journalist I.F. Stone's five-volume magnum opus, A Nonconformist History of our Times. I'm republishing it here because it exposes one of the major differences between the US's military procurement "system," and those of their "enemies," for example, Russia. The US system is there to make profits for the already-wealthy, while the, for example, Russians design and procure things they actually need.

The CIA’s Absence of Conviction

(This is a reprint from Craig Murray's own blog. I'm republishing it here at his invitation, due to his conviction that Facebook and Twitter are "ghost banning" the content from his site. If you'd rather read it on his site, and I wouldn't blame you if you did, feel free to use the link below. This is a very important article. It absolutely puts the boots to this year's most blatantly "false news" story—that the Russians hacked the DNC's computers, and then gave HRC campaign supremo John Podesta's e-mails to Wikileaks.)

Rescuing Boris—Hypocrisy, anyone?

(This is a reprint from an article in Time Magazine. I retrieved it from a Vietnamese Culture discussion group on Google Forums. I cannot verify that it's a totally accurate copy, because I didn't pay the $0.77 I would have had to give Time; besides, then I could have used theirs. It's intended as a counter to what is perhaps this year's biggest, dumbest false news story—that Russia (hyperventilating now) interfered in the POTUS 2016 election. Apparently, Americans don't think that would be fair.

Reading "western" media on Syria

OMG! Those damned Russians! One week they're interfering with the US presidential election, the next they're bombing hospitals and schools in Syria. Woe is us!

How are we to understand such perfidy?! Herein a few pointers.

Anti-war Movement Needed NOW!

If there's a peace movement out there, it's time to get up and howl. If there is not, it's time to get working on one. There isn't much time.

Absolutely the worst thing, in my opinion, that can happen in the POTUS election currently taking up way too much space, volume, and megabytes, is if Shillary were to win in a landslide.

Trump vs Clinton: What's important? (Besides everything)

Here's a moral compass-testing exercise.

Here are some questions abouth the Clinton vs Trump election. Please rank the following in terms of their importance (nb. Almost all of them are really, really important):

Computing: Wish I could get some work done

Sometimes it seems like the majority of my life is spent resolving problems with computers (and phones), problems that seem to crop up for no reason just when I'm about to try to accomplish something.

A few days ago I returned from a sojourn to rural Cambodia, where the wifi was non-existent and the data-mobility was iffy, and I'd forgot to take the power cord for my laptop.

WaPo from The Intercept. Say it ain't so!

One of the more annoying talking points stinking up the debates around the US presidential election is this: Drumpf's son's "skittles" tweet was based on an analogy that "originated" in Nazi Germany.

It's WaPo!

Some child victims we care about, some we don't

Some child victims we care about, some we don't. An injury to a child caused by someone we don't like, we beat our breasts and tear our hair out. An injury to a child caused by someone we do like, well, shit happens.

Top left, you'll undoubtedly recognize little Omran Daqneesh, injured in a "Russian or Syrian" airstrike, and nobody ever figured out, or cared, what party dropped the bomb. Little Omran was photographed by the "White Helmets," a group of PR campaigners embedded in Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda affiliate. The "White Helmets" are dearly loved in the "West," are seriously funded by the "West," and have amazing contacts in the Western LameStream media. If you've managed NOT to see a photo of Omran, you'd be quite unusual. Omran, despite being alive, which makes him luckier than a lot of Syrian kids, is a victim we care about. A "worthy" victim.
