Putin not our "friend"? So what?

One of the big problems of today, as far as I'm concerned, is the staying power in the "West" of Russophobia, or, more specifically, Putin-phobia. Considering how close we are to nuclear war with Russia, for no really good reason, it seems to me a lot of people ought to smarten up.

One of my favourite internet authors, one Caitlin Johnstone, is a major critic of the current wave of Russophobia that's clearly driving otherwise sensible people in the United States, mostly Democrats, to lose their minds—the apparent belief that every major problem in the U.S. is Vladimir Putin's fault.

Reading "western" media on Syria

OMG! Those damned Russians! One week they're interfering with the US presidential election, the next they're bombing hospitals and schools in Syria. Woe is us!

How are we to understand such perfidy?! Herein a few pointers.

Syrian "Revolution": Campists unite!

We're duds!

Those of us who support the elected Syrian government over the foreign-supported and supplied proxy war, the fighters of which are a wahhabist, head-chopping rabble, have it all wrong. We're not anti-imperialists, we're "campists."

Lies, lies, more lies...Milošević exonerated

This is an absolute stunner. Slobodan Milošević has been completely exonerated of being the “mastermind” behind the war crimes in Bosnia. Here's where to find it.

In March this year, the "International Tribunal ... issued its judgement in the case of Radovan Karadžić, the head of the Republika Srpska (RS).

Achcar: Left confused about Syria. Me: Oh, really?

Is the "left" confused about Syria? Are we overlooking the revolutionary possibilities in the Syrian "uprising"? According to Gilbert Achcar, we are. He's just published a piece in Jacobin magazine...

Cologne: What more do we need to know?

Here are some questions I think we should be asking ourselves about the attacks in Cologne.

Does this video explain the refugee crisis "perfectly"? Not even close.

According to truthdig.com (a web-site of which I'm a big fan), this video explains the Syrian refugee crisis "perfectly."

This is perfection? Don't think so.

August Massacre at Douma, Syria: More "Rebel" BS?

By now, the "rebels" in Syria, and their enablers, such as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (sic) and Human Rights Watch (NATO, inc) have established for themselves such a record of lies and BS that I simply don't believe anything they say. The massacre at al-Houla; the "chemical attack" in East Ghouta, Damascus; the massacre at Deraa; and many others...

More on the Kurdis: The NDP Rides the Bandwagon

No sooner did I publish my weblog piece on the deaths of the three Kurdish refugees in the waters off Turkey, I received in my e-mail inbox a missive from my MP, the New Democratic Party's Craig Scott (Broadview-Danforth).

As predicted, MP Scott has nothing to say about all the other refugees trying to cross the Mediterranean, many of whom Canada is directly responsible for. (See Libya.)

I replied.

Alan, Ghalib, and Rehanna Kurdi, and the Cynicism of the West

The mainstream media in the "West" have their R2P knickers in a twist. All of a sudden, the refugee crisis in Europe must be solved.

But why just Syrian refugees?
